Stanford Finishes Tied for Ninth at Olympia Fields

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - Stanford shot a final round team score of 288 and finished tied with Purdue for ninth place at the Olympia Fields Fighting Illini Invitational held outside of Chicago.

The Cardinal's 56-hole score of 870 came on rounds of 287, 291 and 288, as Stanford finished 25 strokes behind first place Florida, which captured the event with a five-over team score of 845.

Oklahoma State and Augusta State tied for second at 852.

Sophomore Andrew Yun, who started the day tied for third and three strokes out of the lead, slipped to 11th place after a final round 76. Yun, who carded rounds of 69 and 68 on Friday and Saturday, was victimized by a quadruple bogey eight on the par four third hole and a double bogey on hole No. 8.

Yun finished nine strokes behind medalist Peter Uihlien of Oklahoma State, who won the event with a 56-hole score of 204 after a final round 70.

Senior Steve Ziegler's final round 70 moved him into a tie for 24th place at 216 (+6).

Freshman Cameron Wilson tied for 36th in his first collegiate event with a nine-over 219 after shooting a 74 on Sunday.

Steve Kearney (223) and Wilson Bowen (227) finished tied for 51st and 66th, respectively.
