Stanford junior David Chung posted two wins on Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Amateur being contested at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Bay, Washington.
Chung defeated Skip Berkmeyer, 3&2 in the round of 32 and then posted a 2&1 victory over Brad Benjamin later in the afternoon.
Chung, who has won titles at the Porter Cup and Western Amateur already this summer, will square off against defending Scott Langley at 8:00 a.m. on Friday in the quarterfinals. Langley, a product of the University of Illinois, took home medalist honors at the NCAA Championships in June.
The winner will advance to Saturday's semifinals, with the 36-hole championship match slated for Sunday.
Joseph Bramlett '10 defeated Tyler Sheppard in the round of 32 but was eliminated by Jed Dirkson of Hampton, Iowa on the 19th hole in the round of 16.
