STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford junior Steve Ziegler has advanced to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Amateur being held at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Ziegler, a native of Broomfield, Colo., won two tightly contested matches today to set up tomorrow's quarterfinal showdown with Byeong-Hun An of Korea. He defeated Will Strickler, 1-up in the morning match and then took 22 holes before disposing of Dan Wotman.

Recent graduate Dodge Kemmer was eliminated this morning, losing to Connor Arendell, 3&2.

The semifinals are scheduled for Saturday while the 36-hole championship match will be contested on Sunday.
