Stanford is tied for third place with UCLA after two rounds of the U.S. Intercollegiate being played at Stanford Golf Course after the Cardinal shot its second straight round of 284 in blustery conditions on Saturday.
The Cardinal is 12 strokes behind first place Oregon, which sits at 556 (-4) while USC is in second place at 564 (+4).
Stanford's "B" team and San Diego State are tied for fifth at 578 (+18).
Teams endured a two-hour weather delay but were able to resume play shortly after 1:00 p.m.
Stanford freshman Patrick Rodgers bolted to the top of the leader board after firing a second round 67 in less than favorable scoring conditions. At 135 (-5), Rodgers is two strokes ahead of Eugene Wong of Oregon, who birdied the last three holes to finish with a 68.
Defending champion Daniel Miernicki and Robbie Ziegler of Oregon are three shots back at two-under par 138,
Rodgers was even par through his first nine holes before catching fire on the back side, picking up four birdies in a five-hole stretch through holes 12-16. He birdied holes 12, 13 and 14 and following a bogey on No. 15, made another birdie on the par-5 16th hole to close with a 67.
Marcel Puyat, playing on Stanford's "B" team, used just 23 putts and shot a one-under 69 on Saturday. At 141, he is tied for eighth place, six strokes behind Rodgers. The freshman was one over on his round but made back-to-back birdies on 15 and 16 to finish with a 69.
Andrew Yun, Cameron Wilson and Patrick Grimes are tied for 18th place at 144 (+4).
Yun shot a 73 on Saturday, picking up birdies on holes No. 7 and 10.
Wilson also carded a 73 with back-to-back birdies on holes No. 6 and 7.
Grimes, playing on Stanford's "B" team, got off to a fast start with an eagle on the par-5 first hole. He got to two-under after picking up a birdie on No. 10, but bogeyed four of his last eight holes to finish with a 73.
David Chung is tied for 25th at 154 after shooting a one-over 71 today. Chung was one-under on the backside, picking up a birdie on the par-4 12th hole.
Shane Lebow is tied for 36th at 146 (+6) after shooting a 77 on Saturday, while Wilson Bowen is tied for XX at 147 after a second round 76.
Steven Kearney and Andre DeDecker are tied for 74th at 154 (+14).
The final round of the U.S. Intercollegiate will tee off at 8:00 a.m. from holes No. 1 and 10 on Sunday at Stanford Golf Course. Admission is free.
