CHULA VISTA, Calif. -- - Stanford's men's golf team shot a final round 292 (+4) but finished eighth at the San Diego Intercollegiate played at the San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista.

The Cardinal finished 32 strokes behind first place Washington which captured the event with a 54-hole team score of 902 (+6). The Huskies earned a seven stroke victory over USC (877) while UCLA (884), San Diego State (887) and Tennessee (887) rounded out the top five.

Teams returned the course early Tuesday morning to complete second round play, which was halted on Monday due to darkness.

Freshman Patrick Rodgers was Stanford's top finisher, earning a tie for 17th place with a final total of 222 (+6) on rounds of 74, 77 and 71.

He finished eight strokes behind medalist Alex Ching of USC (214; -2) who earned a one stroke victory over Tennessee's Garrick Porteous.

Andrew Yun tied for 25th at 225 after shooting a final round 73 after back-to-back 76's.

Cameron Wilson tied for 28th at 226 after carding a final round 72.

Senior David Chung tied for 40th at 229 (+13) after rounds of 80, 73 and 76.

Freshman Patrick Grimes turned in rounds of 85, 83 and 79 to finish 79th at 247 (+31).

Stanford will return to action on Monday, February 20th when the Cardinal face the Pacific Tigers in a dual match at The Preserve in Carmel Valley.

Next up on the tournament docket will be a stop in Las Vegas for the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters, March 9-11.
