Rodgers Named to Ben Hogan Award Watch List

STANFORD, Calif. - For the second consecutive year sophomore Patrick Rodgers has been named to the watch list for the prestigious Ben Hogan Award, as announced earlier today by The Friends of Golf (FOG) and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

Rodgers was one of three Hogan Award finalists last season. The Pac-12 Freshman of the Year completed a stroke average of 70.7 and captured 10 top-10 finishes in 12 events, including victories at the Fighting Illini Invitational and Western Intercollegiate.

This past fall, Rodgers claimed two more individual wins. A First Team All-Pac-12 selection, Rodgers defended his Fighting Illini title after finishing three strokes under par (72-68-67-207) and captured the U.S. Collegiate with a 7-under par finish (70-72-67-209).

Rodgers' selection represents the eighth consecutive year Stanford has been represented with a Ben Hogan Award watch list nominee, which is currently the longest active streak by any school.

The 27-player watch list also includes: Daniel Berger of Florida State, Julien Brun of TCU, Albin Choi of NC State, Corey Conners of Kent State, Scott Fernandez of Iowa State, Steven Fox of Chattanooga, Ben Geyer of Saint Mary's, Talor Gooch of Oklahoma State, Brandon Hagy of California, Max Homa of California, Michael Kim of California, Jace Long of Missouri, Tyler McCumber of Florida, Cheng-Tsung Pan of Washington, Kevin Penner of UNLV, Thomas Pieters of Illinois, Trevor Simsby of Washington, Brandon Stone of Texas, Julian Suri of Duke, Ben Taylor of Nova Southeastern, Justin Thomas of Alabama, T.J. Vogel of Florida, Michael Weaver of California, Pontus Widegren of UCLA, Chris Williams of Washington, and Bobby Wyatt of Alabama.

The Ben Hogan Award semifinalists will be announced on April 18 and the three finalists will be announced on May 8. The three players will be invited to the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, for the award presentation on May 20.
