Owings Mills, Md. - Freshman golfer Rob Grube shot a final round of two-under par 68 at the 2005 NCAA Championships to finish in a tie for fifth individually at the Caves Valley Golf Club. Grube fired a four-day total of two-over par 282 for the tournament.

Although the Cardinal team did not make the final cut to play on Saturday, Grube qualified as an individual.

Grube, who was the '05 NCAA West Regional Champion, becomes Stanford's first top-5 finisher at NCAA's since 1998, when Joel Kriebel tied for second.

The freshman from Illinois was even on the front nine, then recorded two birdies on 14 and 15 to drop his score to two-under for the day.

Georgia went wire-to-wire as the tournament leader at Caves Valley Golf Club, finishing with an 11-shot advantage over instate rival Georgia Tech and win the NCAA Team Championship. Georgia fired an even-par 280 in the final round to wind up at 15-over 1,135.

Washington junior James Lepp won the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship. Lepp rallied from a six-shot deficit during the final day of play by shooting a course record 7-under 63 to force the playoff with Pepperdine's Michael Putnam.
