2011-12 (Freshman):First team PING All-American...first team All-Pac-12 Conference...named Pac-12's Freshman of the Year...one of three finalists for the Ben Hogan Award...sensational rookie campaign netted 10 top-10 finishes in 12 events, including wins at the Fighting Illini Invitational and Western Intercollegiate...finished with a stroke average of 70.7, which was the second-best single-season mark in school history along with Tiger Woods (1995-96) and Andrew Yun (2010-11)...shot par or better in 26 of his 37 rounds on the season, including a season-low seven-under round of 65 in the third round of the Pac-12 Championships...was Stanford's top finisher in 10 of the Cardinal's 12 events...became the first Stanford freshman to win his first event since Tiger Woods when he captured the Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields with a score of 206 (-4) on rounds of 68-70-68...performance helped Stanford to a 16-stroke victory over a field that included 10, top-25 teams... performance earned his Pac-12 Golfer of the Month honors...marked the first of five straight top-10 finishes to start his career...finished 10th at The Prestige at PGA West with a seven-under score of 209...posted his second top-five finish of the season at the Isleworth Intercollegiate, where he shot an even-par score of 216 to finish fourth...tied for 10th at the Gifford Intercollegiate with a score of 215 (+2) on rounds of 70-73-72...was in contention at the Amer Ari Invitational on the Big Island before settling for a third place finish with a nine-under score of 207 on rounds of 67-69-71...the only two tournaments he failed to finish in the top-10 came in back-to-back events at the San Diego Intercollegiate (17th) and Southern Highlands Masters (t-23rd)...reeled off five straight top-10's to close the season...finished fifth at the U.S. Intercollegiate at Stanford Golf Course with an even par score of 210 on rounds of 68-67-75...followed up with his second victory of the season at the Western Intercollegiate at the Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, Calif....shot rounds of 67-71-68 for a four-under 206 to claim the coveted blue jacket...finished eighth at the Pac-12 Championships at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Ore. on rounds of 73-74-65-70...his third round score of 65 (-7) was his low round of the season...birdied four of his first six holes and also made birdies on his 14th, 15th and final hole for a final score of 67...tied for 10th at the NCAA Stanford Regional with a four-under score of 206 on rounds of 70-66-70, helping the Cardinal to a fourth place finish at a spot in the NCAA Championships...tied for ninth at the NCAA Championships at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, finishing at one-over par 214 for the 54-hole stroke play portion of the event (69-72-73).

Amateur Experience Beyond Stanford: Competed in 2011 Walker Cup becoming the ninth Stanford golfer to receive that honor...finished fourth at the 2011 Northeast Amateur with rounds of 68-67-64-67...tied for second at the 2011 Players Amateur...won the 2011 Porter Cup on first playoff hole...advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2011 U.S. Amateur...two-time winner and defending state high school champion in Indiana...two-time HP Scholastic All-American in 2009 and 2010...named first team Rolex Junior All-American in 2009 and 2010 and honorable mention in 2008...recognition was behind the strength of nine top-10 finishes in his career on the AJGA Tour...won his first AJGA event at The SAP Junior Open in 2009...was a match play qualifier in the USGA Junior Championship in 2008 and 2009 and advanced to the round of 16 at the 2010 U.S. Amateur.
