NEW YORK-- Stanford tight end Coby Fleener and offensive lineman David DeCastro were named to the first team and quarterback Andrew Luck was named to the second team of CBS Sports' All-America team on Wednesday.
Fleener, a senior out of Illinois, was one of the nation's top tight ends this past season, leading the Cardinal receiving core with 10 touchdowns while also racking up 648 yards on 32 catches. His 20.2 yards per catch average led the club.
DeCastro, who was previously named an AFCA All-American, paved the way for the Cardinal to average 207.9 yards per game on the ground and post a 167.4 pass efficiency rating. Thanks in part to his work as a finalist for the Outland Trophy, opponents managed just nine sacks against the team's offensive line.
Luck has already embarked on a busy week on the East Coast. He, along with DeCastro will be at the ESPN Awards Ceremony on Thursday in Orlando for the Walter Camp, Davey O'Brien, Outland Trophy and Maxwell awards. On Friday Luck will be in Baltimore for the Unitas Golden Arm award, before heading to the Big Apple to take part in the Heisman ceremony on Saturday night.
Luck posted a 167.5 pass efficiency rating this past season, breaking his own single season record for touchdowns with 35. He also completed 70 percent of his passes. He owns career records in total offense, career wins (31-6), career (80) and single-season (35) touchdowns and single-season (170.2) and career (161.8) passing efficiency.
The Cardinal close out the season in the Fiesta Bowl on January 2. Tickets are on sale at gostanford.com or 1-800-STANFORD.
