WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- Eric Whitaker made the most of his first career start, nailing both field goals and all six extra points in Stanford's 56-48 triple overtime win at USC on Saturday, earning him Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week.

Eric follows in his brother's footsteps, Nate, last year's kicker who was named the Pac-10 Special Teams Player of the Week following the team's win over Notre Dame.

Whitaker, who got the last minute assignment following an injury to Jordan Williamson, hit field goals of 33 and 29 yards and also four extra points in regulation. Then in a back-and-forth overtime period, he hit two PAT's before overtime rules forced the Cardinal to go for two.

Stanford scored and converted its two-points, before defensive tackle Terrence Stephens knocked away USC's third attempt and gave Stanford (8-0) its 16th-straight victory.
