The 2013 campaign marks Shannon Turley's seventh on The Farm.

Stanford's sports performance coordinator has created a comprehensive player development program designed to achieve three primary goals: injury prevention, athletic performance enhancement and mental discipline development.

Turley directs the football program's performance enhancement training, sports nutrition education and sports psychology programming to ensure the physical and mental preparation of the entire roster. In addition, Turley is responsible for collaborating with the sports medicine staff to develop an individualized, sport and position specific, active integration rehabilitation plan to ensure the successful return to competition of all injured players.

Turley is supported by a staff of four full-time assistants that contribute to the mission of preparing the Cardinal for the rigorous demands of pursuing championship performance in the Pac-12 Conference.

Turley previously served the University of San Diego as director of athletic performance for the Torero's 16 sport programs during the 2006 campaign.

Turley spent time at Missouri as a graduate assistant (2001-03) and assistant director (2003-05). During his stint in Columbia, Turley earned a master's degree in education and counseling psychology with a concentration in sports psychology.

In addition to his coaching duties, Turley directed the annual Mizzou Athletic Performance Development Clinic. Turley also developed and directed a comprehensive sports nutrition program for 20 varsity teams that included negotiating sponsorships with Kraft Foods and Gatorade, while managing the department's budget for the purchase of nutritional supplements.

Prior to his time with the Tigers, Turley was directly responsible for the strength and conditioning development of the Class-AA Wichita Wranglers (affiliate of Major League Baseball's Kansas City Royals) in the summer of 2001.

Turley earned his bachelor's degree in science of human nutrition, foods and exercise from Virginia Tech in 2000, also earning a minor in chemistry.

While with the Hokies, Turley served as president of the Exercise Science Student Organization and began his career in strength and conditioning as a student assistant coach following his track and field career.

Turley is a certified member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and a certified sports nutritionist with the International Society of Sports Nutrition.

A native of Bluefield, W.Va., Shannon currently resides in Mountain View.
