NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - The Stanford Men's Rowing Team traveled to Newport Beach last weekend to compete at the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival.

The Cardinal continued its strong fall season by taking second and sixth in the Men's Open 8+ event, trading volleys with defending national champions California, which took first and third in the regatta. Stanford also competed in the Men's Open 4+ event, taking second, fourth, and fifth overall.

"NARF was the premier event of our fall season," Stanford men's associate head coach Donny Simkin commented, "The regatta organizers have established a world-class event for us to test our speed in the early part of the year against Coach Mike Teti and the defending national champs Cal Bears. The trip for us was a great success and provided our guys the necessary competition experience to race fiercely in the Spring."
