Head of the Charles Championship Fours Results

BOSTON, Mass. - The Stanford men's four traveled to the East Coast this weekend where it took part in the championship fours event at the Head of the Charles in Boston, Mass. The Cardinal crew made a strong showing in the three-mile race, finishing third behind the USRowing and California fours.

The Head of the Charles features a three-mile long course along the Charles River, with crews taking off in a staggered start 15 seconds apart from one another.

Stanford would complete the course in a time of 15.55.694, just a hair behind California's time of 15.55.512 for the best finish amongst university boats. The USRowing entry turned in the best time of the class with a 15.49.586.

"The Championship Four performed well," said Stanford Director of Rowing and men's head coach Craig Amerkhanian. "As expected, Cal and Stanford will race to the last stroke in 2010-11. Associate head coach Donny Simkin provided outstanding leadership for the men. We look forward to racing the Bears again in Newport Beach on November 7."

The men's four this weekend consisted of coxswain Shane Hedge and, in descending numerical seat order (4-1): Dane McFadden, Alex Syverson, Sebastian Peterlin and Dixon Bross.

The Cardinal men will conclude the fall season in two weeks at the Newport Fall Regatta in Newport Beach.
