BREST, Belarus - Stanford's men's rowing's Dane McFadden and Alex Syverson completed action over the weekend at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Brest, Belarus, helping the U.S. men's four (M4-) to a "B" Final victory Sunday.

The Stanford duo helped the boat a wire-to-wire run in winning the B final of the men's four, finishing seventh overall. The crew jumped out to a 1.43-second advantage over Argentina in the first 500 meters and continued to put distance between itself and the rest of the field by the halfway mark. The U.S. maintained a comfortable advantage the rest of the way down the course, clocking a 6:24.29 to defeat Slovenia by 2.04 seconds.

Thursday, the duo opened action by finishing second in its preliminary heat. The U.S. boat led over the opening three-quarters of the race before the boat from Germany caught up and eked out a one-second victory.

Heading into Saturday's semifinal round, the U.S. boat stood in fourth place from the start, trying to power its way into a top-three finish for a spot in the A Final. Four seconds behind third-place Australia, the U.S. mounted a final charge over the last 500 meters but fell just short, crossing the line in a time of 6:08.91 and missing a spot in the A Final by just 1.47 seconds.
