Stanford men's crew defeated traditional rowing power Harvard University on Friday in Henley on Thames, England. This marked the first ever victory for a Stanford Varsity 8 over the Crimson. Stanford posted the fastest splits and time of the day for the entire regatta. On Saturday the Cardinal will race Eastern Sprints Champion Princeton.
Coach Craig Amerkhanian is "extremeley proud of our effort" and looks forward to racing Princeton, who is coached by Curtis Jordan. "Curtis is one of the finest coaches in Men's Collegiate rowing and continues to stand up for the rights of student athletes. It is a privilege for us to race his team," Amerkhanian stated.
The winner will advance to the finals held on Sunday.
