Rancho Cordova, CA--The number three ranked Cardinal Varsity 8 bolted to a three seat lead that expanded to four seats by the 600 meter mark of the 2000 meter grand final. Number two Cal would not back down and caught Stanford at 1100 meters into the race. Cal then put on a "massive move" that sent the Cardinal to a three second loss. Washington finished third 5.3 back of Stanford.
Stanford's second varsity collected the bronze medal for the third year in a row at the PAC-10's. The Cardinal tried in vain to race with winners Cal and runner-up Washington. A group of Frosh oarsmen made up the Varsity four and finished a solid fifth.
