    Stanford sophomores Brook Lopez and Robin Lopez were selected in the 2008 NBA Draft tonight at Madison Square Garden in New York. Brook Lopez was chosen as the 10th overall pick by the New Jersey Nets while Robin Lopez was the 15th overall pick of the Phoenix Suns. Prior to tonight, Stanford's most recent first round NBA Draft choice was Josh Childress, who was taken sixth overall by the Atlanta Hawks in 2004.

    Stanford head coach Johnny Dawkins has rounded out his staff with the announcement of assistant coaches Dick Davey, Rodney Tention and Mike Schrage joining the Cardinal. Davey and Tention both bring head coaching experience to The Farm while Schrage arrives from Duke to join first-year head coach Dawkins, introduced as The Anne and Tony Joseph Director of Men's Basketball back on Apr. 28.

    Stanford men's basketball head coach Johnny Dawkins will appear as a guest on KGO-ABC7 Sports' "After The Game" segment later tonight. Hosted by Larry Beil and Hall of Famer Nate Thurmond, "After The Game" will air following the conclusion of tonight's Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers (tip-off time is slated for 6 p.m.). Boston currently holds a 2-0 lead.

  • Dawkins Takes Over As Head Coach
    Stanford students will have the opportunity to meet The Anne and Tony Joseph Director of Men's Basketball Johnny Dawkins on Wednesday afternoon in a social to be held at Jimmy V's Sports Café inside the Arrillaga Family Sports Center. Students packed into the cafe for an opportunity to meet Dawkins and enjoy free root beer floats, cookies and drinks. Athletics Director Bob Bowlsby welcomed Dawkins, who then introduced next year's returning players before answering questions from the crowd.

Dawkins, 44, arrives on The Farm after completing his 11th year as a member of the Duke coaching staff. For the last nine seasons (2000-08), Dawkins served as the program's associate head coach.
