STANFORD, Calif.- Stanford's Anne and Tony Joseph Director of Men's Basketball Johnny Dawkins has announced that junior guard/forward Anthony Brown will miss the remainder of the year due to a hip injury.
Brown, who is scheduled to undergo surgery in mid-December, will apply for a medical redshirt.
"We are all hoping that Anthony's surgery goes well and wish him a speedy recovery," said Dawkins. "Anthony has played an important role for our team throughout his career and we expected him to be significant contributor once again this season. I have no doubt Anthony will work hard to come back even stronger."
A native of Fountain Valley, Calif., Brown appeared in four games this year, making two starts and averaging 3.0 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. A Pac-10 All-Freshman Team selection in 2010-11, Brown has averaged 8.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in 71 career games while shooting 39.6 percent overall and 35.1 percent from three-point territory.
