STANFORD, Calif.- Redshirt freshman Andy Brown will miss the 2010-11 campaign due to an ACL tear in his left knee.
Brown, a 6-8 forward from Yorba Linda, Calif., suffered the injury during a workout last week.
Brown sat out last year as a medical redshirt after tearing the ACL in the same knee on the Cardinal's first day of practice. That setback was the second in a 10-month span for Brown, who was recovering from an ACL tear in the same knee back in January of 2009, cutting short his senior season at Mater Dei High School.
"We are all very disappointed to see this happen to Andy," said head coach Johnny Dawkins. "This is an unfortunate loss for our program, as Andy had worked very hard throughout the rehab process following his first injury. We were pleased with his progress and looked forward to him being a key contributor to this year's squad. I wish him all the best in his recovery."
Brown guided Mater Dei High School to state championships during his sophomore and junior seasons. An all-state selection as a junior and two-time all-league honoree, Brown was tabbed an All-CIF Southern Section first team selection as a junior while also earning All-Orange County first team accolades.
