STANFORD, Calif.- Stanford (18-14, 9-9 Pac-12) will square off against Stephen F. Austin (27-4, 16-2 Southland) in the opening round of the 2013 Postseason NIT.

Stanford will attempt to capture its second straight Postseason NIT title, after defeating Minnesota 75-51 in last year's championship game. The only other programs to claim back-to-back NIT championships are St. John's (1943, 1944) and South Carolina (2005, 2006).

Reaching the postseason for the 23rd season in school history, Stanford has been tabbed a No. 4 seed in its region and will host the Lumberjacks in a first round contest on Tuesday, March 19, at Maples Pavilion. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.

Tickets for Tuesday's game will go on sale Monday, March 18, at 9 a.m. Courtside seating is priced at $30, lower level reserved seating is priced at $15 and upper level general admission is $10 ($8 for children and seniors). Admission is free for all Stanford students. Tickets can be purchased online at www.gostanford.com, by calling 1-800-STANFORD or in person at the Stanford Athletic Ticket Office.

Stanford and Stephen F. Austin will be meeting for the first time on the hardwood. The Cardinal is 3-1 all-time against teams from the Southland Conference, most recently defeating Central Arkansas 91-52 in last year's season opener at Maples Pavilion.

The 32-team NIT field includes two other Pac-12 teams in No. 3 seed Arizona State and No. 6 seed Washington. The first three rounds are played at campus sites, with the semifinals and championship game played at Madison Square Garden in New York on April 2-4.

Stanford is 35-20 all-time in 23 postseason appearances overall, including a 12-4 record in six NIT appearances. The Cardinal also claimed the 1991 Postseason NIT championship.

The Cardinal tied for sixth in the Pac-12, sweeping rival California and routing eventual conference tournament champion Oregon 76-52 back on Jan. 30 when the Ducks were ranked No. 10/12.
