Classroom Cardinal Supports Read Across America Day
Stanford players were out in the community on Friday to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday with Read Across America Day, a national campaign designed to promote literacy among elementary schools. The team's visits capped a month-long Classroom Cardinal program that inspired Bay Area students with their reading. During its inaugural year, Classroom Cardinal engaged 63 classrooms from 15 local schools. More than 706 students completed the program, reading 10 or more books in the month of February to earn a ticket to Sunday's game against Utah. More than 11,700 books were read by students in grade levels K-6, with six schools reading more than 1,000 books and one school totaling 2,284 books.

The Cardinal has now made at least one three-pointer in 384 consecutive games, dating back to an 0-6 performance against Purdue in the John Wooden Tradition on Nov. 24, 2001.

Double-Double Machines...
Dwight Powell and Josh Huestis continue to pile up double-doubles on a nightly basis, with both players able to score consistently while controlling the game defensively. Prior to Wednesday's loss to Colorado, Stanford had received at least one double-double from either Powell or Huestis in eight straight games. Powell and Huestis are one of four duos nationally to have notched at least nine double-doubles apiece.
