Stanford Basketball Team Opens Exhibition Season with a Victory

STANFORD, Calif. - Ryan Mendez came off the bench to score a team-high 21 points to lead the Stanford men's basketball team to a 93-71 victory over Silute of Lithuania in an exhibition game Monday night at Maples Pavilion.

Mendez, a sophomore forward, hit 8-of-11 shots, including five three-pointers. Peter Sauer added 16 points, while freshman Jason Collins and Kamba Tshionyi added ten points apiece.

Stanford hosts Athletes in Action on Thursday at Maples Pavilion. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m.
