Box Score

SEATTLE (AP) - Kris Weems hit a 3-pointer as time expired to give No. 5 Stanford a 74-72 victory over Washington, extending the nation's longest winning streak to 18 games.

Donald Watts had hit a running five-footer with 5.1 seconds left to give Washington a 72-71 lead. Weems took the inbounds pass, dribbled to the top of the key and launched his jumper just before the buzzer sounded. Washington had a foul to give, but no one touched Weems as he made his way down court.

Arthur Lee scored 17 points for Stanford (18-0, 7-0 Pac-10), while Weems and Tim Young each had 14 points. Young also grabbed 12 rebounds.

The 18 straight wins is a school record for Stanford, along with No. 4 Utah, the only undefeated teams in the country.

Watts led the Huskies (12-4, 5-2) with 21 points, while Deon Luton and Jan Wooten each scored 12.

Stanford led by 12 points three times early in the second half, but Watts scored seven points during a 19-7 run that gave the Huskies their first lead, 62-61 with 5:35 left.

The teams then traded the lead seven times.

Stanford scored the first eight points of the game and led by as many as 11 points in the first half, but Washington trail only 37-34 at halftime.
