  • Drew Storen Selected by Nationals with 10th Overall Pick
    Four more Stanford players were chosen on the second day of the 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, giving the Cardinal five players selected thus far. Right-handed pitcher Brandt Walker was chosen by the Houston Astros in the eighth round, right-hander Jeffrey Inman was a 12th-round pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates, outfielder Joey August was selected by the New York Mets in the 20th round and outfielder Wande Olabisi was tabbed by the San Diego Padres in the 30th round.

    Stanford right-handed pitcher Drew Storen was chosen by the Washington Nationals today with the 10th overall pick of the 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. With Storen's selection, Stanford leads all NCAA Division I baseball programs with 11 first round picks in the past 11 MLB drafts (since 1999). Storen's selection marks the second consecutive for a Stanford player, following catcher Jason Castro in 2008 (to the Houston Astros).
