STANFORD, Calif.-- Rain in the the Bay Area on Sunday has cancelled Stanford Baseball's annual alumni games and barbeque at Sunken Diamond.
Stanford Baseball regets having to cancel the annual event, but had no choice due to the weather. It's hope is that many of the former players were able to reconnect at Saturday's Homecoming Game win over Washington State, much like 1980s centerfielder Daryl Stephens did with Coach Mark Marquess, yesterday.
Stanford opens its season with three straight weekend road trips at Rice, at Vanderbilt and at Texas. The home opener is February 22, a weekday game, against California.
Marquess is in his 35th season as the head coach and welcomes a young, but talented team led by Pac-10 Freshman of the Year Kenny Diekroeger and freshman standout Austin Wilson.
