STANFORD, Calif.-- Stanford Baseball will host its alumni game on Sunday, October 23 at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond, concluding Homecoming Weekend with Washington.
The game, which was washed out last year due to rain, will begin with an old-timers game at noon and the current squad against its alumni at 1:30 p.m. Stanford Baseball has produced 88 major leaguers in its history, including its latest product—A's outfielder Michael Taylor.
In previous years, All-Americans like 1950's pitcher Joe Chez and Cy Young Award winner, Jack McDowell have been in attendance.
Stanford had 30 professional players including 10 big leaguers in 2011. Sixteen former players have been on World Series winners. Stanford Baseball has played in 30 NCAA Regionals and 16 College World Series.
The 2011 season marks the 25th Anniversary of the team's first championship, in 1987. The Cardinal also won in 1988.
Homecoming Weekend revolves around the football team's game against Washington at 5 p.m. Two-time All-Pac-10 honorable mention pick and starting outfielder Tyler Gaffney, is a running back for the team.
Former two-sport standout, Mark Marquess, will enter his 36th season as head coach in 2012.
