DURHAM, N.C.-- Stanford lefthander Brett Mooneyham was named to Team USA late Sunday night after six days of trials at the USA Baseball National Training Facility.

Mooneyham threw four shutout innings in one of the six inner squad scrimmages, after striking out 22 in 22.2 innings in the Cape Cod League for Yarmouth-Dennis to begin his summer. The sophomore lefthander had a 3.18 ERA in the Cape this summer, prior to the Trials.

The team's summer gets going in a hurry as Team USA opens with a game on Monday night in Gastonia, NC before playing a five-game friendly with Korea, July 14-18. Along with playing an exhibition game against Japan at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, on July 21, the team concludes its summer in Japan with the World University Games, July 30-August 7.

Mooneyham is the 33rd member of the Stanford family to wear the Red, White and Blue, seven have been Olympians.
