WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- Stanford Baseball is picked to win the Pac-12 Conference, according to the other 10 conference coaches.
Stanford received 10 of the 11 first place votes, with programs unable to vote for their own teams. Stanford received 100 points, followed by Arizona (85 points), Arizona State (84), UCLA (72) and Oregon State (64). ASU is ineligible for post season play due to an NCAA ban and received the other first place vote.
Stanford is ranked as high as No. 2 in Baseball America's national poll, while Arizona is No. 5 in the same poll. UCLA is No. 14, while ASU (No. 17) and Oregon State (No. 23) round out the top-25.
The rest of the conference from sixth through 11th place is 2011 College World Series participant California (56), Oregon (38), Southern California (36), Washington State (33), Washington (20) and newcomer, Utah (17).
Cal (as high as No. 22 in Collegiate Baseball), Oregon (No. 27) and USC (No. 40) are all ranked in Collegiate Baseball's top-40 preseason poll, but unranked by Baseball America.
The college baseball season opens on Friday, with Stanford hosting No. 10-ranked Vanderbilt in a three-game series. Friday's game is at 5:30 p.m., followed by games at 1 p.m on Saturday and Sunday
