STANFORD, Calif. -
Stanford Baseball, ranked as high as No. 2 in the preseason, will host the first ever Cardinal and White intrasquad game on Saturday, February 11 at 1 p.m at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond.
Admission will be free to the event, which will give fans the first glimpse of the 2012 Cardinal. This year's team returns seven of eight starting position players, 19 lettermen and a majority of its pitching staff led by projected No. 1 pick RHP Mark Appel and three-year weekend starter LHP Brett Mooneyham.
Fans can also pick up the 2012 schedule poster, pocket schedule and schedule magnet. There will also be a post-game autograph session. Thirty-sixth year Clarke and Elizabeth Nelson Director of Baseball Mark Marquess will also address the crowd.
Stanford advanced to the Super Regional last season and its junior class, of which Appel and Mooneyham are a part of, have five players rated in the top-55 amongst the best college players.
Stanford opens the season February 17-19 with No. 10 Vanderbilt, one of seven opponents ranked in the top-25. Stanford's home schedule also features top-15 Texas and Rice as well as No. 17 Arizona State and No. 23 Oregon. For tickets for the regular season, call 1-800-STANFORD.
