Brock Ungricht is in his second year as the volunteer coach at Stanford in the spring of 2011 after serving in the same capacity at his alma mater, San Diego State in 2010.
The 2011 Stanford team reached the Super Regional, as Ungricht worked with the team's hitters as well as its catchers.
In 2009 he began his coaching career as the head coach at Kearny High in San Diego, leading the Kornets to its first league title in 28 years. The team went 19-12 overall and 13-3 in league play, coaching Central League Player of the Year Chris Pernicano in the process.
Ungricht spent three seasons at San Diego State, batting .373 as a freshman All-American with 48 RBIs over 63 games for head coach Tony Gwynn and after a .256 sophomore season, hit .314 with 37 RBIs as a junior. The summer prior to his junior season he played for Orleans in the Cape Cod League.
The corner infielder and catcher finished his Aztec career batting .318 with 44 doubles and 117 RBIs, leaving among the all-time leader in hits, RBIs and total bases.
Ungricht was a 30th round pick of the Yankees in 2006, spending a season playing for the Gulf Coast League Yankees before playing for Chico of the Golden Baseball League in 2007.
Ungricht was inducted into the Mission Bay High School Hall of Fame in 2008 after three All-CIF selections.
He earned his degree from SDSU in 2008 with a bachelor's in criminal justice.
