MLB Draft: Drafted in the 47th round by the hometown Cardinals in the 2011 draft.

High School: Four year letterman in baseball at Christian Brother College Prep in St. Louis... he is the second St. Louis product in four years from the area, joining minor league pitcher Danny Sandbrink (St. Louis Priory), who was drafted by the Giants in 2011... Schmidt won the state championship in 2010 and was Metro Catholic Conference champions... in 2011 named first team all-state, all-metro and all-conference... as a junior was named all-conference, helping team win its first state title behind a 4-0 record, 1.22 ERA over 34.1 innings... as a freshman, set the school-record for saves in a season... also played ice hockey, twice winning state championships in high school and scoring the game-winning goal in the state championship as a sophomore.

Personal: Son of Jeff and Anne Schmidt... father, Jeff, played Division-II football at Michigan Tech University as a middle linebacker... major is undeclared.
