High School: A 2003 graduate of Menlo-Atherton High School Earned 2001 First Team All-Peninsula Athletic League honors Batted .397 during his prep career Captain of his baseball team during his senior year Led his squad to the 2002 PAL Ocean Division crown and two CIF Central Coast Section postseason appearances (2002, '03) Also played forward on the basketball team for two seasons Named a California Governor's Scholar for three years and also an AP Scholar with distinction Coached in baseball by Donny Kadokawa.
Other Amateur Baseball: Did not play summer baseball in 2004 after having knee surgery following last season Played three summers with fellow sophomore Ryan Seawell on the Menlo Park Brewers in the Joe DiMaggio League (2001, '02, '03) Hit .385 during his three-season stint with the Brewers.
