WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- Arianna Lambie, senior competitor in cross country, indoor and outdoor track for STANFORD, have been named a recipient of the 2008 Pac-10 Sportsmanship Award, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today. Also, earning the award was Michael Capbarat, a senior outfielder for California baseball.

Stanford freshman Alexandra Gits was the top American finisher in the junior race at the World Cross Country Championships from Edinburgh, Scotland on Sunday. Gits qualified for the race by placing second at the United States Cross Country Championships back in February.

Four Student-Athletes Earn NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships

Four Stanford student-athletes have earned NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships, awarded to fall sports participants who will receive one-time, nonrenewable grants of $7,500. Neftalem Araia (men's cross country), Rachel Buehler (women's soccer), Sandy Hohener (men's water polo) and Arianna Lambie (women's cross country) represent Stanford among the 58 NCAA student-athletes (29 men and 29 women) honored for the award. Stanford's four selections are the most of any institution included among the awardees.
