Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams Open 1997 season with Victory
RENO, Nev. - The Stanford men's and women's cross country teams, defending NCAA champions, swept both races to open the 1997 season at the Nevada Wolf Pack Invitational on Saturday.
The Cardinal men, led by the one-two finish of Jon Weldon and Jason Lunn, easily defeated California and Sacramento State in the three team race.
Stanford tallied 21 points, compared to 44 for California and 71 for Sacramento State.
Six Stanford runners placed in the top ten over the four-mile course.
The Stanford women also placed one-two as Sally Glynn and Sara Renfro led the Cardinal contingent over three other schools.
