1998 Cross Country Season (Freshman): Twice ran
in the Cardinal Top 5 ... Finished seventh at the
Fresno State Invitational and 17th at the Arizona
State Invitational.
2001 Track & Field Season (Sophomore): Was
enjoying a breakthrough season until a freak accident
during the Distance Medley Relay at the Penn
Relays ended his season abruptly ... Ran 1:50.10 for
800 meters in early April ... Gained All-America
honors as a member of the winning Distance
Medley Relay team at the NCAA Indoor
Championships.
2000 Track & Field Season (Freshman): Competed
solely in the 800 meters with a conference qualifying
time of 1:50.09, produced indoors at the Boston
Terrier Indoor Classic ... Finished eighth at the Pac-10
Championships at Eugene.
1999 Track & Field Season: Redshirted outdoors,
but competed indoors in the 800 meters ... At the
1999 U.S. Junior Track & Field Championships in
Denton, Tex., finished second in the 800 meters
(1:51.04) to earn a berth on the U.S. Jr. Pan Am
Games team ... The Jr. Pan-Am Games gold medalist
over 800 meters in 1:49.57.
High School: Captured the 800 and 1,600 meter
title at the California state meet in 1998, the first
athlete to do so in 75 years ... Captured the state title
in the 1,600 meters for a second straight season ... At
the Golden West Invitational, ran a national-best
time of 1:48.65 in the 800 meters ... Finished second
at the USATF Junior National Track & Field
Championshps in the 800 meters in a time of
1:50.48 ... By finishing second, he qualified for the
USA Junior National Team, which competed at the
World Junior Championships in Annecy, France ...
Captured the men's mile at the 1998 National
Scholastic Outdoor Meet in Raleigh, NC, in 4:08.63
