Season Preview: Cross Country

The No. 6 Cardinal women and No. 9 Cardinal men hope to end up on the podium at the NCAA Championships

At Stanford: Wide range of running talent, on the track and in cross country.

2012 Season (Freshman): Ran three meets for the Cardinal 'A' teams ... ran No. 9 for Stanford at Pac-12 Championships, placing 81st at Santa Clarita's Robinson Ranch Golf Course in 22:35 (6K) ... made collegiate debut at the Stanford Invitational, running No. 6 for first-place Stanford and finishing 54th in 22:11(6K) ... also was No. 7 runner for second-place Stanford in the Wisconsin adidas Invitational, running 22:14 (6K) and placing 295th.

High School: Won consecutivehigh school Dream Mile races at the New York Grand Prix, clocking a personal best 4:39.64 to winin 2012 and 4:42.71 in 2011 ... the 2011 Nike Track Nationals mile champion ... captured the 2011 California state title in the 1,600, in 4:40.88 ... won two state Division IV cross-country titles, in 2009 and 2010, and was second in 2011 ... won 2012 CIF Southern Section Masters (4:43.90) and Division III (4:48.77) championships ... a four-time Mission League champion in cross country ... owns the Harvard-Westlake record in the 1,500 (4:17), 1,600 (4:40), mile (4:39), two mile (10:19) and a part of the 4x400-meter relay (3:44) ... teamed with Stanford teammate Amy Weissenbach to set the distance medley relay national high school record in 2011 ... also won the sprint medley relay national title in 2011 ... helped Harvard-Westlake to the 2009 Division IV state title in cross country ... won three Mission League titles in track ... a part of the 2011 CIF Division III Section title team ... also played soccer and helped Harvard-Westlake to the CIF title.

International: Competed for the United States at the 2011 World Youth Championships in Lille, France, in the 1,500 meters ... placed fifth with a time of 4:17.12.

Personal: Major is undeclared ... daughter of Jean-Marc and Victoria Chapus ... father ran the 200 and400 at Harvard University ... mother, the former Vickie Cook, won three California state high school 3,200-meter titles and ran at UCLA ... has five younger siblings, Carli, Claire, Nico, Christian and Elodie ... enjoys surfing and snowboarding.
