New Orleans - Thursday, the USTFCCCA announced the women's 2011 Division I All-Academic Track & Field team. Stanford was heavily represented with 18 honorees, the second most of any school.

Nebraska was the only school with more than the Cardinal women as the Huskers had 19 honorees. A record total of 663 student-athletes representing 172 institutions compose the group.

The Cardinal women had six repeat winners as Brittni Dixon-Smith, Madeline Duhon, Kathy Kroeger, Stephanie Marcy, Liz Minoofar and Kate Niehaus have been honored in previous seasons. Duhon, Marcy and Niehaus are actually three-time recipients of the award.

First time honorees for the Cardinal were Kori Carter, Hannah Farley, Justine Fedronic, Adrienne Johnson, Eda Karesin, Whitney Liehr, Ellie McCardwell, Katie Nelms, Joy O'Hare, Kellie Schueler, Jessica Tonn and Alyssa Wisdom.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).

Along with the 18 women, 11 men were honored on Wednesday to give Stanford 29 student-athletes awarded this top honor.
