New Orleans - The Stanford men's track and field team had 12 student-athletes named All-Academic by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The 12 Stanford honorees were the most of any school in the nation.

A record total of 357 student-athletes representing 118 institutions compose the group. Following Stanford, Minnesota and BYU followed with 10 mentions. The Pac-10 led the conference order with 45 with the Big Ten coming next at 37.

Five Stanford distance runners earned their second All-Academic honor. Chris Derrick, Elliott Heath, Benjamin Johnson, Justin Marpole-Bird and Justin Reed each were honored for the second consecutive season.

Earning the first All-Academic honor were Daniel Belch, Durell Coleman, Ryan Fisicaro, Amaechi Morton, Mark Mueller, Miles Unterreiner and Ryan Valdes.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (including preliminary rounds) in their respective event.
