New Orleans - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the women's 2010 Division I All-Academic Track & Field team. A record total of 551 student-athletes representing 150 institutions compose the group. Stanford was well represented with 11 honorees, which was the most in the Pac-10.

Kate Niehaus earned her second Academic All-America honor and was one of 24 student-athletes nationally to achieve a grade point average above 4.0. Other second time winners for Stanford were Madeline Duhon, Georgia Griffin, Arantxa King, Stephanie Marcy and Madeleine O'Meara.

Earning the honor for the first time were Brittni Dixon-Smith, Kathy Kroeger, Griffin Matthew, Liz Minoofar and Victoria Pennings.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (including preliminary rounds) in their respective event.

The male Scholar Athletes of the Year in Division I, along with additional individuals given All-Academic status, will be released tomorrow, Thursday, July 29. Those institutions given All-Academic Team status will be named on Monday, August 2 (men) and Wednesday, March 3 (women).
