WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - 42 Stanford student-athletes were represented when the Pac-10 All-Academic teams for track as announced by Larry Scott. The Cardinal had two men and three women earn first team honors.
On the first team for the men were Chris Derrick and Miles Unterreiner. Derrick is coming off a pair of All-America honors at the NCAA Championships, while Unterreiner qualified for the outdoor NCAA's for the first time. Both juniors, Derrick and Unterreiner hold GPAs of 3.84 and 4.03, respectively.
Earning second team All-Academic honors were Andrew Berberick, Corey Dysick, Elliott Heath, Benjamin Johnson and Aaron Konigsberg.
The Cardinal had a plethora of honorable mention nominees with Johnson Bademosi, Kevin Cardey, Brendan Gregg, Kevin Havel, Delano Howell, Tyrone McGraw, Amaechi Morton, Mark Mueller, Jake Riley, Tyler Stutzman, JT Sullivan, Geoffrey Tabor, Ryan Valdes, Tyler Valdes, Sean Wallace and Carter Wells being honored.
On the women's side, the Cardinal had three named to the Pac-10 All-Academic first team.
Madeline Duhon,
Kathy Kroeger and
Kate Niehaus each received the conference's highest academic honor. Duhon graduated with a degree in public policy and a 3.91 GPA. Niehaus had already graduated and is a pursuing a master's degree in bioengineering. Kroeger's major is undeclared, but she holds a 4.0 GPA.
Earning second team honors for the women were Kara Bennett, Stephanie Marcy, Liz Minoofar and Alyssa Wisdom.
The honorable mention honorees were Brittni Dixon-Smith, Hannah Farley, Justine Fedronic, Whitney Liehr, Sarah McCurdy, Joy O'Hare, Elaine Patten, Victoria Pennings, Kristin Reese, Katerina Stefanidi, Kala Stepter, and Hannah Varnell.
