Cobb Track and Angell Field
In conjunction with the 2005 Stanford Track and Field Invitational, all alumni and friends of Stanford University are invited to join PAYTON JORDAN at Cobb Track and Angell Field on Saturday, March 26, as the former Stanford and Olympic Coach signs copies of the recent book CHAMPIONS FOR LIFE. Jack Scott and Jim Ward, co-authors and former Stanford Track and Field teammates, also will be present.
Coach Jordan is scheduled to sign books from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at Templeton Plaza located at the west end of Cobb Track and Angell Field. Copies of CHAMPIONS FOR LIFE will be available for purchase at the Stanford Track House (located adjacent to Cobb Track and Angell Field) throughout the day.
We hope you are able to join us on this special day as we pay tribute to Payton Jordan and the significant role he played in shaping the lives of thousands of track and field athletes throughout the world.
Also, please remember to mark your calendars for The Payton Jordan U.S. Track and Field Open at Stanford's Cobb Track and Angell Field on Monday, May 30. This nationally televised IAAF Grand Prix II Meet is one of the top track and field events in the world. The star-studded event attracts the world's most elite Olympic caliber athletes. At last year's meet, Olympic silver medalist and Stanford graduate, Toby Stevenson took top honors in the pole vault, while former world record holder Maurice Greene ran the fastest time in the world under any conditions in the 100 meters. Expect a sellout crowd for this prestigious event. Please call 1-800-STANFORD for tickets.
