STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford Outdoor Opener was low-key, but Rebecca Hammar and Elaine Patten provided their best performances to highlight the track and field event Saturday at Cobb Track & Angell Field.
Hammar, a sophomore, threw the discus a personal record 171-10 to move into No. 7 on Stanford’s all-time outdoor performance list.
And senior high jumper Elaine Patten cleared 5-8 ¾ to earn her collegiate best and move into a tie for No. 10 on Stanford’s all-time list.
Hammar and Patten joined Geoffrey Tabor (men’s discus) and Lucas Rowley (hammer) among Stanford winners in the five-school non-scoring meet.
Stanford, Cal, Fresno State, UC Davis, and USF brought athletes to the meet.
Hammar improved upon her best of 170-5, while Patten had a collegiate best of 5-8.
A night after competing in the shot put at the UW Final Qualifier indoor meet, Tabor made his season discus debut with a throw of 182-6 in his main event.
Rowley, a sophomore making his collegiate debut, won the hammer throw at 182-11.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Stanford women made three additions to the Cardinal all-time indoor Top-10 lists through their performances at the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame’s Loftus Sports Center.
Kori Carter won the 200 in 23.63 for the No. 3 performance in Stanford history, bettering her winning time at least week’s Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships by 0.01.
She also was second in the 60 hurdles in 8.19, a time that only she has exceeded in Stanford history.
In addition, freshman Kristyn Williams ran 54.34 in the 400 for the No. 4 time in school history, placing ninth. And Carissa Levingston was sixth in the 200 in 24.02, which ties her for the No. 7 spot in Stanford indoor annals.
Though Carter in on the bubble to reach the NCAA Championships, none of Stanford’s other competitors on Saturday have marks in the nation’s Top 16, which would qualify them for the NCAA’s March 8-9 in Fayetteville, Ark. The final qualifying list will be released Sunday.
