STANFORD, Calif.-- Stanford freshman Oliver Toole was named as one of 55 members of the U.S. Youth National Sailing Development team for the 2011 season.
The team, now in its third year, tabs youth sailors across America who have been identified as “future Olympians prospects.”
Toole from Santa Barbara-- host to this weekend's conference dinghy championships-- last week finished 13th at the singlehanded national championships in Tampa, Fla. Toole was the Pacific Coast Conference's Singlehanded Champion in October, also earning him conference sailor of the week honors.
Previously, Toole competed for the U.S. at the 49er European Championships last summer in Poland and in 2009 sailed at the 29er World Champion and the 420 World Championships in Italy.
