STANFORD, Calif.-- Four Stanford sailors are finalists for the first ever Youth America's Cup teams, set to sail in the San Francisco Bay prior to the America's Cup in 2013.

Though details are still forming, a U.S. based squad and a Bay Area based squad are slated to be among the competitors. Support is still building for the championship event around the world's largest sailing event. The group has also started a Facebook page at: http://www.facebook.com/teamqftc

The sailors have also built out a blog site at http://questforthecup.wordpress.com.

Sailors for the likely six to eight person U.S. squad could include Stanford All-Americans Oliver Toole and Kevin Laube, as well as Hans Henken. The Bay Area squad could feature Branson School senior Antoine Screve. Schreve is an incoming freshman for the Cardinal.

Stanford Sailing were fifth in the Fowle Trophy, ranking the nation's top overall collegiate sailing programs, and finished eighth in both team and coed racing this past season at the national championships.

Though details are still forming, the boats will be smaller than the one's used for the America's Cup race, similar to the AC45's. The America's Cup is expected to take place in either August or September of next year.
