AUSTIN, Texas-- Stanford women's skipper Sally Mace was named a first team All-American as the Cardinal sophomore was one of nine sailors across the country named first teamers.

Earlier this spring, the Newport Beach (Calif.) native was named All-Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference after skippering the Cardinal to a win at the conference championships in Hawaii. Stanford finished 13th after the three-day national championships, which ended on Saturday.

Mace is the 12th All-American women's skipper for the Cardinal since 1994.

Mace this spring won the Bryson's women's and the South Florida women's races this spring. Mace was also a part of the fourth place squad at Navy.

Stanford Sailing is currently at the national championships, racing in team racing for the next three days, followed by coed sailing to close out the season.
