Stanford, Calif., - Five of Stanford's Varsity Sailors were recognized by
their peers as being outstanding competitors over the 2004-2005 collegiate
sailing season. The Pacific Coast Collegiate Yacht Racing Association member
schools include 22 teams from California and Hawaii. Each year, the member
schools vote for 6 Coed skippers, 6 Women's Skippers and 6 Crews who represent
the best of the PCIYRA district. With 18 sailors honored throughout the
district, Stanford's 5 makes it the school with the most honorees.
Earning berths on the All-PCIYRA Coed Team are Peter Deming '05 and Emery
Wager '07 for their outstanding performance in pacific coast coed events this
year.
Liz Rountree '06 and Caroline Young '07 were named to the All-PCIYRA
Women's Team, after a year of convincing victories over the other pacific coast
teams.
Earning a coveted spot on the All-PCIYRA Crew Team, is Stanford's Becca
Levin. Levin has done double duty this year, sailing on both the Coed Team (with
Emery Wager) and the Women's Team (with Caroline Young).
"The most exciting thing about our All-PCIYRA nominees this year is that,
with the exception of Peter Deming, they are all underclassmen and coming back
next year," commented Head Coach Jay Kehoe. "I am so proud of the entire team
for their effort this year."
The Intercollegiate Sailing Association All-America Team will be announced
at the ICSA National Championships at University of Texas in June.
