TREASURE ISLAND, Calif.-- Stanford Sailing won its first regional regatta in four tries, winning the fourth North Regatta on Sunday after a fifth place finish on Saturday.
In Sunday's finale, the Cardinal were six point winners over Cal among the 13 competitors, which finished with 35 points. Stanford finished with a low of 29 points over the seven race course on the San Francisco Bay. The A Division scored four wins and never finished lower than third, finishing with 11 points. The B Division won three races and were never lower than fifth, finishing with 18 points.
On Saturday, Stanford finished with 76 points scoring a division-low of 29 points in the A Division among the 15 teams, but scoring 76 points in the B Division. Over the eight races, Stanford's A Division finished fifth or better in seven of the first eight races.
In the first two regional regattas last week Stanford was second and fourth.
