King's Point, New York: Competing in the annual Admiral's Cup Regatta at the US Merchant Marine Academy the Cardinal Coed sailors earned 4th behind top-ranked teams from Harvard, St.Mary's of Maryland and Dartmouth. Admiral's Cup is the last major intersectional event before the National Championship. Over the course of the two day event, 18 races were held in each of three fleets. The Stanford Sailors, who have seen their national ranking drop to 8th in recent weeks, were happy to put together a strong finish.

The highlight of the regatta was freshman Emery Wager's third place in the singlehanded C Division. "Wager has come a long way this year," commented Coach Kehoe, "he came in as an amazing sailor, and after this year of training, he's become a great college sailor." Over the course of the event, Wager's scores improved to keep the Cardinal points ahead of 5th place Georgetown.

The second highpoint of the regatta had to be the expertise of Stanford's crews. In this regatta, the A and B Divisions sail two types of doublehanded boats- Vanguard 15's and FJ's, switching after race 9 in the 18 race event. In a strategic move to exploit the talents of each crew, Coach Kehoe sailed senior Taylor Clark in the V15 all weekend, and junior Lucy Horton in the FJ. "Our women are incredibly versatile, and were able to adjust to each skipper's sailing style easily." Sailing in the back of the boats, skippering for these talented crews were sophomore Brian Haines in A Division, and junior Peter Deming in B Division.
