REDWOOD CITY, Calif.-- Peter Stemler and Justin Doane skippered Stanford's winning sailing team in the first of five North sectional regattas, tallying a low 40 points amongs the “A” and “B” divisions.

Despite not scoring the lowest score in either division (that went to separate teammates amongst the 19 competitors), Doane's 21 points along with a crew of Katie Jewett (A-Division) and Stemler's 19 points with Iris Clayter (B-Division) resulted in the lowest point total.

Ben Pedrick and Abby Soong had the lowest total amongst  the “B” divisions, tallying 18 points, while Wade Hatton and Rebecca King and the lowest total in the “A” division with 20.

Stanford led the 19 competitors with the first three slots in the scoring, at 40, 43 and 52 points.

The top teams from five North sectional regattas, along with its counterpart in Southern California,  as well as Hawaii will make up the conference championship field in April. Other Northern sections will be February 14 (Cal), February 20-21 (Monterey Bay) and April 3 and 4 (St. Francis Yacht Club, San Francisco).
