Prior to Stanford: Spent one year sailing for Alison Niguel High School... sailed for the BYC Racing Team from 2008 to 2010, placing second at the CISA Championships in 2009, fourth in the Area J. Prince of Wales Regatta in 2009 and 2010 and sixth at the Junior Olympics in 2008... was named "best overall crew" for her CFJ class in 2008 and was the Junior Sailor of the Year in 2007 by the LMVYC...

Personal: Daughter of Steven and Sharon Yu... has one younger sister, Holly... majoring in biology with the hopes of being a physician... national merit and national AP scholar... artistic endeovours include painting, sketching, wire-sculpting, the piano and cello.
